Moncucchetto 2024 (second edition): an exclusive event on economic and legal overviews

After our successful first edition of this event series in 2023, it was a thrill to host Moncucchetto 2024 (second edition) together with EFG Bank at the Fattoria Moncucchetto on 7 June 2024 with over 25 personally invited guests. The co-event kick-started with a presentation by Dr Daniel Murray, CEO EFGAM, on ‘Politics, People and Policy’, in which he demonstrated how these influence investment decisions. He described a 4-stage risk scale, demonstrating how locally contained issues advance to regional, sector and finally producing a global impact. The potential impact of generative AI on productivity is estimated to lift total labour productivity by 0.5 % to 3.5 % p.a. by 2040. Large budget deficits are a legacy of Covid and difficult to reduce. The second presentation show cased Prof Dr Paolo Bernasconi, co-founder and attorney at Bernasconi Martinelli Alippi & Partners, Lugano, on ‘Società Informatica – Nuovi Rischi’ where he covered AI and cybercrime, its prevention and penal justice/law enforcement in three sections supported by the portrayal of his personal experiences. Prof Dr Bernasconi described the breathtaking case of a CEO fraud using deepfake AI with a fake boss that was reported to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) in Berne in April of 2024. He reminded everyone that our daily vigilance is the best protection against cyber risks in our modern information society. The evening blended into an apéro riche cushioned by a mild sunny evening and the fruity ‘spumante’ Moncucchetto.
